Inside Yoga 111 (30/6/14)

If you visit India there is one aspect of life which you will come into contact with and even sample from time to time, or even daily – the ubiquitous chai wallahs (tea sellers) who can be found on most streets selling tea by the bucket (well, more precisely, vat) load. Is there more to life than a good cup of tea?

The BBC News Magazine has an interesting photo-story about the tea sellers of India. Take a look.

What’s all this got to do with yoga? Not a lot on one level, but on another, if you spend time in India practicing and studying yoga, the chai wallah becomes an important part of your day – as integral to the day as your yoga practice. It is one ritual that you must take care with – first, finding the chai maker who makes the perfect chai is part of the Indian experience; then, there is the pleasure in sipping the chai while watching India’s vibrant and busy life unfold before you (there is usually a lot to see right in front of the chai stall), and of course, it tastes good.
